Poets strive to connect the dots of their faith journey in order to integrate the seemingly paradoxical aspects of life and faith.

All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable.— Matthew 13:34
The ideas of other worldviews lead them to take a fresh look at their current ideas about life and faith. Poets explore problems from different perspectives to help them see the complexity. They are open to conflicting proposals from diverse sources when making decisions.
Poets are at a stage in life where they want to connect the dots of their faith journey and combine the seemingly paradoxical aspects of life and faith. They embrace the paradox that is life. They re-examine truths they previously embraced as eternal. When making decisions, they are open to contradictions.
Poets do not reject the ‘plain’ understanding they held earlier because it is untrue, but because it is not true enough. They have discovered that there are truths and mysteries embedded in reality that can only be grasped through paradox. For Poets, discerning, realising, discovering and knowing are part of an integrated process. They use intellectual experiences as well as personal life experiences to sense the truth. For them truth is multidimensional and organically interdependent.
For Poets, the tradition becomes an open field that they can enjoy, meditate on and explore to the very edges. They would also benefit from sitting at the feet of teachers from traditions with which they are not familiar. Poets need practises that help them connect the dots. Habits such as meditating daily on a sacred text could be of great value. Their relationship with God matures not only in understanding and reasoning about what they believe, but also in embracing truth in mystery. They need to move beyond reading the Bible, and let the Bible read them too.
Nurture and explore your faith. Make sense of how you believe, who you are and why you do things the way you do.
