Pilgrims have a sense of trust and safety about all creation. They seek fairness and justice in the now. Their deep connectedness to all other living things guide them on their path.
“
Jesus is the starving, the parched, the prisoner, the stranger, the naked, the sick, the dying. Jesus is the oppressed, the poor. To live with Jesus is to live with the poor. To live with the poor is to live with Jesus.— Jean Vanier
Pilgrims strive for the safety of their environment. They trust that consistent nurture will be experienced. They have a sense of trust and safety about the universe and the divine. They seek and see a world based on mutual fairness and immanent justice. They find meaning through a sense of being connected to all other living things.
They expect Life to be even-handed to them. They deeply experience that the sun shines on everyone irrespective of who they are. God is goodness and love and does not withhold goodness lightly.
The way that they see a situation is not necessarily wrong, but it may be vastly different from the way others see it. They seem to have contact with energy that ordinary people can’t see nor experience. They feel Presence. They touch Heaven. They are living with parts of them in a world unknown to the rest of us.
Pilgrims have a strong belief in the justice and mutualism of the universe. Their understanding of God is almost always divine beings in human form. They take parables and analogies faithfully and loosely at the same time. Pilgrims regard all beings as worthy of compassion and deep understanding. Pilgrims ”walk the talk” of the great religious traditions (e.g. ”the kingdom of God is within you”).
Pilgrims's faith is shaped by an intense awareness of the unity of all living things and the oneness of God's creation. Pilgrims emphasise the importance of equality among people, asceticism in one’s style of living, and the practice of compassion for all.
Nurture and explore your faith. Make sense of how you believe, who you are and why you do things the way you do.
