Guide

Introduction

Guides have discovered that rhythms and a wide range of spiritual practices are the only way to live with mystery and prosper in uncertainty.

  • You embrace spiritual practices that help you hold onto multiple perspectives.
  • You are very cautious of closed definitions.
  • You seek integration of your own worldview and experiences.
  • You see everything as spiritual.

Quote

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

— Matthew 6:33

Description

You embrace spiritual practices that help you hold onto multiple perspectives.

Guides realise that mystery and disciplines help them put into practice what they believe. They embrace a range of spiritual practices that help them assume multiple perspectives. Guides no longer seek one unifying system to put all their ideas in order. They are comfortable with different practices from many traditions. They have discovered that in uncertainty rhythms are the only way to live.

You are very cautious of closed definitions.

Guides trust the insights that develop if they stay in the process. They become more cautious of closed definitions. They follow and imitate gurus only when those gurus understand the notion of accepting multiple perspectives.

You seek integration of your own worldview and experiences.

The identity of Guides is separate from those of the group. They have achieved integration of their own worldview and experiences. They are well suited to test their faith against that of other people. Guides are often involved in the whole Christian church, promoting or fostering unity throughout the world. This said, it is quite conceivable that they would recommit to their church and its symbols.

You see everything as spiritual.

Guides can foster faith through a wide range of activities because they understand everything as spiritual. They receive something from even the most mundane activities. Spending three days in silence can form who they are just as much as walking the city streets for a week. Guides could schedule weekly ‘dates’ to explore things that interest them, such as people, activities, objects or intellectual subjects that would increase their curiosity. Such regular appointments invite them to explore new aspects of life mindfully. Having conversation companions to help them reflect on the insights gained in these encounters, could also be helpful.
